STEVIE MOORE'S GREATEST HITS Z HOMERS     OCT-NOV 1972 This stereophonic tape is different, you must say, as a collage of various types of chord progressions, solos, basic tracks, improvisations, and rock and roll tomfoolery played on r. stevie's gibson electric guitar. Included are bits from his immense tape collection, ranging in content from trips with Goods, studio and live; inventions with friends and accompaniment; loud messages within Victor Lovera tunes; home pieces; to featured solos mixed in with popular prerecorded music. Electric bass was also added to enhance many of the segments. Any unnecessary tape noise still exists... cheap faulty equipment loves to distract the listener. But it's all still here, still unreleased to the public, compiled at the Fugto Studios, to be experienced by the best quality headphones. If you're in the outfield, you won't be able to catch it. Stevie Moore's hero Frank Zappa initiated the Shut Up 'n' Play Yer Guitar series of patchwork live instrumental recordings, Moore had done the same thing with the hour-long collage Homers. Not a collection of individual pieces like the later keyboard-based albums Monotheism and Iconoclasm, Homers is simply a tapestry of electric guitar solos pulled out of the context of their songs and stitched together. (Imagine Neil Young's Weld without all the feedback and you'll get the general idea.) Fun for complete R.
